Inclement Weather Policy
Effective Date: February 10, 2025

This Inclement Weather Policy outlines the procedures and responsibilities of Mid Shore Animal and Home Sitting, LLC (“Service Provider”) in the event of severe weather conditions that may impact scheduled services.
1. DEFINITION OF INCLEMENT WEATHER
Inclement weather includes, but is not limited to:
-
Severe storms (thunderstorms, hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding)
-
Extreme temperatures (heat advisories, winter storms, freezing conditions)
-
Natural disasters (earthquakes, wildfires, hazardous air quality)
-
Road closures due to snow, ice, or fallen debris
2. SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS & CANCELLATIONS
a. The safety of animals and sitters is the top priority. If severe weather conditions make travel unsafe or prevent safe outdoor animal care, the Service Provider may:
-
Adjust visit times or durations
-
Modify outdoor walks (e.g., shorter walks, indoor playtime)
-
Cancel or reschedule services if conditions are too dangerous
b. The Service Provider will notify the Client as soon as possible if weather conditions require service modifications or cancellations.
c. If services are canceled due to inclement weather, the Client may choose to:
-
Reschedule the service for a later time (subject to availability)
-
Receive a credit for a future service
-
Request a refund (for prepaid services only)
3. CLIENT RESPONSIBILITIES
a. The Client must ensure that walkways, driveways, and entryways are clear of snow, ice, or other hazards to allow safe access to the home.
b. If the Client expects severe weather, they should provide emergency instructions for their animal’s care, including:
-
Alternative care arrangements
-
Emergency contacts
-
Temporary shelter instructions (if applicable)
c. In the case of extreme temperatures, the Client acknowledges that outdoor services may be modified for the animal’s safety, and the Service Provider may use their best judgment in determining appropriate care.
4. EMERGENCY CARE & EVACUATIONS
a. If an evacuation is necessary due to hurricane, wildfire, or other disaster, the Service Provider will attempt to follow the Client’s emergency plan.
b. If the Client has not provided an emergency plan, the Service Provider will:
-
Attempt to contact the Client for immediate instructions
-
If unreachable, use best judgment to ensure the safety of the animal(s)
-
Transport the animal(s) to an emergency shelter if feasible (additional fees may apply)
5. LIABILITY WAIVER
a. The Client understands that while the Service Provider will make every effort to provide services during inclement weather, some conditions may make travel and animal care impossible or unsafe.
b. The Client agrees to hold the Service Provider harmless for any delays, service modifications, or cancellations resulting from severe weather conditions.
c. The Service Provider is not liable for property damage, animal illness, or injury due to weather-related incidents beyond their control.
6. AGREEMENT TO TERMS
By booking services, the Client acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to this Inclement Weather Policy.
