Who We Are
Erin Stubbs
Founder, Manager, & Sitter
Erin is the proud owner of Mid Shore Animal and Home Sitting. Growing up on the Eastern Shore, her love for animals began with dogs, frogs, turtles, and horses she'd befriend as an adventurous kid. Today, she's a mom to a lively two-year-old and two dogs, and two cats. She has a passion for connecting with animals of all kinds.
With over 10 years of leadership experience, a BS in interdisciplinary studies in environmental studies, business, and communications from Salisbury University, and hands-on experience caring for a wide range of animals—from dogs and cats to lizards and farm animals—she's dedicated to providing professional, high-quality care for animals and homes.
Outside of work, she has part-time jobs with multiple local nonprofits, and she enjoys hiking, traveling, gardening, reading, and exploring new cuisines as a true foodie. She's grateful for her clients’ trust and looks forward to meeting even more families and their beloved animals!
Rut (Root) Finnsdóttir

Rut (pronounced Root) is from Iceland and has called the Eastern Shore of Maryland her home since 2001. She grew up in a very small town surrounded by animals, mostly horses and sheep.
After earning Biology degrees from the University of Iceland and Washington College, she entered the animal world through an opportunity with the Talbot Humane Society. While working with Talbot Humane she enrolled in the Veterinary Tech program at Del Tech, moving employment from Talbot Humane into private small animal veterinary practice. First licensed as a Vet Tech in 2017, she maintains both MD and DE state credentials.
She has been pet sitting in private homes since 2018 and bring education, compassion and professional service with her to each and every client.
She shares her home with a husband, 4 children, a dog, cat, hamster and an assortment of seasonal bottle-fed kittens as a foster home for Talbot Humane.
Ben Schmitt

Ben, a part-time sitter for MSAHS brings years of experience caring for a wide range of animals, from farm animals like goats, chickens, and cows to domestic pets like dogs and cats.
Born and raised on the Eastern Shore, Ben has a hands-on background, starting as a farm hand, studying automotive in college, and now working full-time for MDTA. His passion for animals extends to assisting with wild animal rescues, including Osprey and Red-Tailed Hawks.
Outside of work, Ben enjoys traveling, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and trying new foods. With a love for animals and a commitment to their care, he looks forward to meeting new clients and their beloved pets.
